I am British and have worked and lived, as an expatriate, in many countries in South East Asia over the last twenty years, including living in Philippines.  Apart from the work my interest has always been the differences in cultures not only between the East and the West but also between neighboring countries.  I have now settled down and am living permanently in the Philippines and experience on a daily basis the difference between how I behave, as a foreigner, and the culture that surrounds me.
